London called, so I answered.

After 20 hours of airports and planes, I'm finally in the motherland.  The journey actually wasn't too bad for me, which is better than some people can say.  In the Salt Lake airport I saw Thurl Bailey, and on both legs of my journey the middle seat in my row was empty, so I got to sprawl out (as much as you can on an airplane).  From Salt Lake to Washington D.C. the man sitting on the end of my row was traveling to Cairo to try out for the London olympics next summer as an athlete competing for Ghana in boxing.  Cool, huh?  In Washington D.C. our flight was delayed by about an hour so we had to sit and wait....and wait....and wait.  Right when we began boarding one of the girls noticed that she didn't have her passport anymore, it had either gotten stolen or it was in her other carry on which she had to check.  After frantically searching for her passport we had to board the flight and  leave her behind.  Good news though, I think she is coming in tomorrow.

So far I haven't seen much of London, but what I have seen I like.  After I got to Palace Court and settled into my bedroom which is on the first floor (yay for not having to walk up 5 flights of stairs), some girls and I walked down Bayswater to look around.  We then came back to go out for another walk down Queensway with the group.  Unfortunately I got assigned kitchen duty this week, so I had to be back by 3 to help out for an hour before eating at 4.  Dinner I will say was......interesting.  Mint pea soup with a little too much mint.  Let's just say we have a ton of left overs!

After dinner our kitchen duty got cut short because we had to run off to a Q & A with Ralph Fiennes (pronounced Rafe Fines).  In case you don't know who that is he plays Voldemort in Harry Potter.  He just talked about his upcoming film Coriolanus.  It was cool to see Voldemort in person, although I must admit due to lack of sleep I didn't have the energy to comprehend what he was saying. So because I am in need of sleep I will say "goodnight."

Although before I do that, I want to wish my sister Rachel a Happy 22nd Birthday!  Thanks for always being there Rach and being one of my best friends! I love you and wish I could be there to celebrate!

  2. Sounds like so much fun Abby. The English do love their pea soup with mint. Too funny.
